Will my child be in a class with their friends from their primary school?
We do our best to liaise with primary schools to place pupils in a tutor group with at least one other person that they have identified as being a friend. However, it is not always possible to be in curriculum classes with their friends. Children will make new friends from other primary schools during the transition days and summer schools.
Where can I buy a school uniform?
Uniform can be purchased using information on our uniform page.
Can my child use a mobile phone at school?
Monkwearmouth Academy operates a no phone policy. Phones must be switched off and be placed out of sight inside school bags.
Who will support my child when starting in Year 7?
Your child's form tutor will be the main point of contact as your child will see them every morning Monday to Thursday. They will also be supported by your Head of Year and Year Manager. However, all staff at Monkwearmouth Academy are approachable and will be there to support throughout the day.

Is breakfast available in school?
A breakfast club does operate in the school canteen between 8:00am and 8:20am Monday to Friday. This is open to all year groups.
How can I pay instalments for the Year 7 residential school?
Prior to your child starting Monkwearmouth Academy, instalments can be paid via the school office. When your child starts Monkwearmouth Academy in September there will be a payment option on Arbor which will allow for online banking payments
